BUENOS AIRES, Oct. 16 (Xinhua) — China’s Zhang Mengyao won the girls’ recurve individual archery gold medal at the Youth Olympics by beating Spain’s Elia Canales in the final here on Tuesday.
After an evenly contested opening, Zhang pulled away from her rival in the second set and eventually won 6-2.
Top-ranked Zhang finished with an overall score of 108 points while 11th-ranked Canales ended with 104 points.
In the bronze medal match, Son Yeryeong of South Korea overcame Mexican Valentina Vazquez Cadena 7-3.

Ranked No. 4, Son concluded the final with an overall points tally of 138 while Vazquez’s tally stood at 131.
