Hi Ann, I suggest posting your question and pictures on the Asian Traditional Archery Research Network forum ( http://atarn.net/phpBB2/ ). Mr. Selby administers the forum, and other knowledgeable folks regularly read it.
I have a question about a very old Chinese bow. My mother inherited it from a 90 year old friend when she died in 1950. It is C shaped (about 70 inches long) and has Chinese writing on it along with inlaid mother-of-pearl, and what appears to be snake skin and ivory blocks at the end. There is also some design which might be either just a pattern or some kind of camouflage.
Mr Lukas Novotny has been very helpful in providing most of the information I have about the bow but I am trying to learn more and try to pinpoint more closely the age. He said if someone could read the writing on it we might be able to learn who made it and when.
I can send pictures if you can help. Thanks, Ann Robinson ***@yahoo.com
